When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, our guide/driver will pick you up and take you to a hotel where you’ll spend the night ahead of your eight-hour journey to Murchison Falls National Park tomorrow. Time allowing you’ll go on a tour of Entebbe and browse local markets, shop locally, or check out some of this chick colonial town’s popular eateries and pubs as you mingle with the locals – Africa’s friendliest people.
The second day of this trip begins with journeying to the scenic northwestern part of Uganda, taking you through the Luwero Triangle, the area where the current Ugandan government successfully launched its five-year guerilla war and took power in 1986.
You will make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where the critically endangered black rhinos can be tracked in the wild.
You will have lunch at a restaurant near Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and head straight to the peak of the falls to see the majestic flow of River Nile, the longest river on earth. You will see how the waters of the Nile squeeze through a small gorge of only seven metres wide and drop down to over 42 metres below with a thunderous roar and a water spray that forms a beautiful rainbow. Simply amazing!
Later in the evening, you will dine and spend the night at one of the lodges inside the park.
After breakfast, you will cross the Nile using a ferry to the banks on the northern side of the park, where you will embark on a guided game drive to see various animals that reside in Murchison Falls National Park. This morning’s sightings will include elephants, hyenas, lions, bohor reedbucks, Cape buffaloes, bushbucks, Rothschild’s giraffes, oribi, hartebeests, waterbucks, and, if you’re lucky, you’ll also spot the elusive leopard.
After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a bit of relaxation. In the afternoon you will go out in the park again, this time for a boat ride to the bottom of the falls. By the river banks, you’ll see the giant Nile crocodiles, hippos and various bird species and just a short distance the Uganda kobs, buffaloes, elephants and waterbucks. In addition, there are various bird species here, such as cormorant, bee-eater, Egyptian goose, kingfisher, pelican, hornbill, uncommon shoebill stork and the Goliath Heron.
You will leave the boat and climb to the top of the falls for about an hour to see how marvelously the great River Nile thunderously explodes through a small gorge within the Rift Valley escarpment to fall into a pool about 43 metres below.
Later in the evening, you will be driven back to a Hotel in Entebbe ahead of your departure flight tomorrow.
Today is your final day with Across International Tours and Travel. In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
